From the road, LUNE reads as one object: a cream cylinder with the wordmark lit across it, and beneath it a rough grey hemisphere, hung low enough that you walk under the curve to get in. It is the whole identity, built in plaster and stone rather than printed on a sign.

A table by LUNE's window, the Burj Khalifa framed in the glass.

The Room

A rock moon, slung under a lit drum.

Inside, the walls carry on the idea. The surfaces are moulded into crater ridges and lit from behind the lip, so the room is edged in warm light and the texture does the decorating. Rattan chairs, pale stone tables, an olive tree at the door. Nothing glossy, nothing that glows.

The Terrace

DubaiAfter dark

Two floors. Around thirty covers indoors, fifty at most across the building, which is why the queue outside is a real thing rather than a marketing story. Upstairs is open air, facing Downtown. The Burj sits in the gap between the buildings opposite.

The Aseeda fondant, plated close with cream, berries and crumb.

Aseeda

  1. 01Semolina
  2. 02Ghee
  3. 03Date

Aseeda is semolina, ghee, and date syrup, worked until it holds its own shape: a sweet most people at this latitude grew up eating at home, not in a café.

LUNE plates it as a fondant: the same three ingredients, the same ratio a grandmother would recognise, set inside a French pâtissier’s mould and finished under glaze. Nothing about the recipe changed. Only the technique used to hold it.
